London-Based vocalist Maddie Martin is quickly carving her own path as a dynamic new voice rooted in tradition. With a distinctive ‘old soul’ tone and a gift for storytelling, she captivated audiences through expressive phrasing, rich timbre and strong stage presence. With a deep love for lyricism, Maddie places wordplay at the centre of her music. She draws inspiration from legendary vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Carmen McRae, Cécile McLorin Salvant, and Nancy Wilson.

Raised in a musical household, Maddie was immersed in a wide array of genres from a young age— performing everything from classical and pop to jazz and soul. This eclectic foundation helped shape her broad musical perspective and continues to influence her distinctive artistry. Dedicated to honing her craft, Maddie has trained under esteemed jazz vocalists including Anita Wardell, Lauren Kinsella, and Claire Martin OBE, developing her skills in vocal interpretation, band leading, and storytelling. She is a recent member of The London Vocal Project, one of the UK’s leading contemporary vocal ensembles, led by renowned jazz composer and educator Pete Churchill.

Since moving to London, Maddie has started to establish her voice in the UK music scene, performing at venues across London and beyond. Highlights include leading her own jam session in Northwest London, touring with ensembles such as London Concertante, collaborating on a Big Band project with composer and trumpeter Gabriel Taylor, and making her jazz festival debut with her quartet at Swanage Jazz Festival 2025.

Maddie is currently thrilled to be working on her debut record, recorded at Quiet Money Studios. The upcoming EP features her quartet alongside some of London’s horn players, with original compositions by Gabriel Taylor and Maddie’s fresh arrangements of beloved jazz standards and soul tunes. The project is co-produced by five-time Grammy-nominated producer and musician James McMillan and acclaimed British vocalist Claire Martin OBE. As her release approaches, Maddie is eager to return to the studio and share this unique, personal, bold and collaborative project.
